The Artist - Lee Hadwin
Wrexham born, Welsh–Australian artist Lee Hadwin is known for a rare phenomenon: he creates authentic, highly detailed portraits, figures, and landscapes only while asleep. Lacking formal training and interest when awake, his unexplained talent has baffled scientists and media and led critics and galleries to call him “one of a kind.”
Lee began sleep-drawing at four; by his early teens the scribbles had become complex artworks. Using coal, crayons, pens and paints, he’s created pieces on paper, walls, furniture, clothing and newspapers. He keeps sketchbooks and materials around his home for nocturnal inspiration. His work is now collected by celebrities, leaders and dealers worldwide, featured in international exhibitions and on TV, with a book in development. More than a curiosity, his art challenges notions of consciousness and creativity, revealing latent subconscious potential.
